I'm Elise Rosner.

A Bit About Me

Hi, I’m Elise Rosner, S.S.W., R.S.S.W., Registered Social Service Worker, and a proud member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). I’m so glad you’re here. At Red Sand Psychotherapy, I provide a compassionate, non-judgmental space where you can explore your emotions, embrace your authentic self, and work toward healing on your terms.

 

Life’s challenges can leave us feeling lost or overwhelmed, but you don’t have to navigate them alone. Whether you’re facing anxiety, trauma, or neurodivergence, I’m here to walk alongside you with empathy, understanding, and respect.

My Journey & Approach

My path to becoming a counsellor is deeply personal. As someone who is neurodivergent, disabled and has lived experience, I know how it feels to face uncertainty and vulnerability. I’m also neurodiverse, which has shaped the way I connect with others and the way I approach my work.

 

These experiences have given me a profound understanding of the emotional weight you may carry and the strength it takes to seek help. They’ve also fuelled my passion for creating a space where any adult, LGBTQ+, and neurodiverse individuals can feel seen, heard, and empowered.

My practice is rooted in feminist-informed and anti-oppressive principles. This means I value your unique experiences, honor the systemic challenges you may face, and work collaboratively with you to help you heal and thrive. You are the expert on your own life, and I’m here to support you in reconnecting with the strengths you already have.

I draw on a variety of evidence-based approaches to create a personalized experience for you, including:

  • Compassionate Inquiry: Exploring your emotions with empathy and understanding.

  • Expressive Arts Therapy: Using creativity to foster self-expression and healing.

  • Emotion-Focused Therapy: Helping you navigate and process complex emotions.

  • Somatic Practices: Strengthening the connection between mind and body.

  • Feminist-Informed Therapy: Recognizing and addressing systemic inequalities in a supportive and empowering way.

 

Together, we’ll work to create a therapy experience that feels authentic, empowering, and aligned with your goals.

Behind the "Red Sand"

I’ve always been drawn to the beauty and tranquility of Prince Edward Island’s red sand beaches. There’s something about the deep, rich color—the way it feels underfoot, the way it contrasts against the ocean—that has always felt grounding to me.

The red sand itself comes from iron-rich sandstone, shaped over time by wind and water. But beyond the science, it holds something more—a sense of stillness, a place where you can pause, breathe, and just be. There’s one particular beach in PEI that has always stayed with me. Every time I walk along its shore, I feel a deep sense of calm, like the world slows down just a little.

When I started my practice, I knew I wanted it to reflect that feeling. Therapy, at its best, should feel like that kind of space—a place where you can settle, let go of the noise, and find clarity.

That’s why I chose the name Red Sand. It’s a reminder of the grounding, soothing, and restorative experiences I hope to offer every person who walks through my door.
